Dr. Freya Schafer, PhD
Personal Leadership Coach, EFT practitioner, Speaker, Writer
My passion is to inspire and support you to live your authentic life.
I am an internationally active Personal Leadership Coach and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques™) practitioner with clients worldwide. I use proven Life Coaching Techniques and Energy Tools such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Self Stabilizing Techniques to empower women to become the Leader of their Lives.
Women meet with me through individual sessions, workshops or teleseminars.
I have had a long-standing interest in the areas of personal growth and well-being. My personal journey as an analytical chemist, cancer research scientist, and performance coach have given me a unique view of women’s issues. Through my company–Essential Clarity–I provide skills, techniques and insights that empower women to discover and live their authentic life.
A surprising match between science and Leadership Coaching
Prior to founding Essential Clarity Leadership Coaching, I have been a successful research scientist for over 13 years in both Germany and America. I conducted advanced research on free radicals and antioxidants in curing cancer. Freya’s CV & List of Publications 1987-2006
Clarity & insight are the driving forces in both science and Personal Leadership Coaching.
For the scientist it might mean finding a new cure; for the Personal Leadership Coach it means helping clients achieve their goals and be successful in their careers. I find that my scientific background gives me a natural skill set for coaching. The “detective work” of science is what drew me to become a scientist. I always loved looking for clues and pieces of the puzzle until the whole picture emerged. Coaching provides me with the same scenario but also with the bonus of having a direct positive impact on the careers and lives of my clients.
As a scientist I asked broad, challenging questions such as “How can I improve cancer treatments?” To solve the problem I broke the quest into smaller insightful questions: “Will radicals destroy the tumor?” “Do antioxidants protect the healthy tissue during treatment?” Then I investigated the problem from all sides, looking for different perspectives and keeping an open mind.
The skills of an outstanding scientist are also essential for coaching. Analytical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, tenaciousness, brainstorming and intuition are needed to solve scientific problems. I use the same skill set to help women gain clarity and insight and move forward on their path to an authentic life.
As a scientist I learned first-hand what it means to get stuck, how to retrace my steps and go down another path, how to stay motivated through rough times and stay focused on the goal. As a scientist I became used to working on the edge – that area where no-one has been before – where I had to discover my own answers. I learned the practical value of using unorthodox techniques such as day-dreaming and doodling – and of following my intuition in unexpected directions. Personal Leadership Coaching presents me with similar challenges: How can I best assist a new client – someone with new territories and new situations to explore? I find the process fascinating and exhilarating — and very rewarding, too, as I watch my clients achieve their goals.
